LIFE'S HIGHWAY

Bob Dick and Friends

Bob Dick became nationally known for his innovative bass playing for the band Front Range.  He was a member from 1992 until 2005 when the band stopped touring due to the passing of mandolinist Mike Lantz.  Bob has a new recording, Life’s Highway.  It is a collection of songs that he has been playing and singing for many years.  Featured on the recording are many of the fine musicians Bob has performed with over the last 25 years including Blackstone Valley Bluegrass, Front Range, SloGrass, Roger Williams, Walter Crockett, Mark Manuel and Chuck and Mud.   His wife Krissy adds some wonderful harmony vocals, his brother Dave plays great banjo and mandolin tracks, and Joe Holovnia, Bob’s bass teacher from years ago, and builder of his bass adds some great piano playing.  Bob was also fortunate to have members of the Seldom Scene, Ben Eldridge, Phil Rosenthal, Mike Auldridge, and Tom Gray, contribute to the recording.  Tom Gray was a great influence on Bob and their bass duet on Walkin’ the Blues is a great testimony to their innovative bass styles.
On this recording Bob plays guitar, bass, mandolin, resophonic guitar and fiddle, and sings all the lead vocals, and some of the harmony vocals.  Bob contributes two original songs, plus one song co-written with Rick Lang.  The album was recorded by Bob at his Appleland Studios in Northbridge, MA with additional recording by Gantt Kushner at Gizmo Recording in Silver Spring MD.  More info on Life’s Highway is available at www.applelandmusic.com.
